"My 18-year-old long-haired lady has recently stopped grooming herself completely. With her arthritis, pain down her back and discomfort in her back legs, she has also become very reluctant to let us groom her properly, which unfortunately led to some compacted fur and quite a lot of matting.
I booked her in with Karen, and from the moment we arrived, I knew she was in good hands. Karen spent a good half hour at the beginning of the appointment making sure my cat was calm and relaxed, while also taking the time to discuss exactly what was needed and what would be best for her.
Our vet had prescribed gabapentin to help with her pain and to make the grooming process easier for her. She was understandably a little wobbly, but Karen was absolutely wonderful with her throughout and handled her with so much patience, kindness and care.
Yes, she was a little patchy by the end, but that was completely understandable given how badly matted some areas had become. I had decided beforehand that a full lion cut wouldn't be suitable for her, so Karen carefully removed as much of the problematic fur as she could and gave her a good thinning all over, while keeping her as comfortable as possible.
Hopefully, now that she has had her new haircut, it will be much easier for us to keep on top of her daily grooming and prevent her coat from becoming uncomfortable for her again.
I honestly couldn't be happier with how Karen treated her. She was incredibly caring and gentle, and I felt completely confident leaving my elderly girl in her hands. Absolutely will be going back and would highly recommend Karen to anyone looking for someone patient and compassionate with older or more nervous cats."   AE - Newby
